Hudhaifat Hamdan, a 2014-2015 YES alumna (Lake Stevens, Washington) and recipient of a 2016 Global Grant, has used her advantage as an exchange alumna to
[huge_it_gallery id=”4″] Each year IRIS and the YES Program host dozens of exchange students from across the globe. One country with consistent showing is Tanzania.
IRIS alumni across Nigeria organized volunteer activities in honor of Global Youth Service Day (GYSD).

The group of 13 used IRIS funding to carry out the two-day renovation project, which included giving the walls a fresh coat of paint, repairing window nets and ceiling repairs.
Joseph has attended training workshops in the past, but none as effective as ToT. He said that he eventually “came to realize the reasons why the impact was about 40 percent. It was because my training was not effective. My experience at the ToT workshop has been one of the most valuable experiences in my life.”
Anderson calls it “a real blessing” that IRIS’ programs and the KL-YES program are designed in similar ways. With help from many friends and colleagues near and far, IRIS is proud to have partnered with KL-YES, which gives us even more opportunity to fulfill our mission.
“I organize group discussions among the youth who are the leaders of tomorrow. Youth need to be encouraged in order for Nigeria to have a great future,” he said.
Throughout July, KL-YES alumni in Zanzibar conducted several individual and group community service activities ranging from English lessons and playground construction to basketball donations.
