As the year came to an end and 2016 began, IRIS said goodbye to a wonderful PR intern, Hanan. Hanan was with IRIS from May of 2015 through the end of December, when she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. Hanan was an integral part of the IRIS office, and lent her skills of writing, photography, and positivity to the IRIS team nicely.
In Hanan’s place, Audra Kincart has began as IRIS’s new PR intern. Before Hanan left, she had the opportunity to interview Audra so that our audience has the opportunity to get to know her.
My name is Audra Kincart and I’m from Bloomfield, Iowa! I’m a junior in journalism and mass communications at Iowa State University. I have minors in biology and agriculture business, which may have been influenced from my parents since my dad is a farmer and my mom is a physical therapist. I was raised on a farm and loved every minute of it and have always enjoyed to read and write. My hobbies include watching movies and playing the piano. My best friends are my three siblings, Jackie, Will and Ben and I’m the third of the four of us. I’m still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up, but I know whatever I do I want to help people.
If you could only have one one type of food in the world and for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Easy, popcorn!! If you ever want to get me something though, buy me Pepsi, I am obsessed with Pepsi.
I sort of answered this already but I also serve as the Special Olympics cheer coach in Story County! I’ve never cheered in my life but I love spending time with my wonderful cheer team and learning alongside the athletes.
Who are your heroes?
Mary Cary, quite contrary and crazy as a bean! Mary Cary is one of my dear friends I met while working at my local hospital in high school. Mary lives in the nursing home and I go and see her every time I’m home. Even though she is 75 years older than me, I aspire to have her daily love of life and positive outlook.
What are you most excited about with the internship at IRIS?
I’m excited about helping out our awesome YES students! I already got the chance to meet them at the mid-year retreat and am inspired by each and every one of them. I hope the work I do can provide opportunities for students like them to live and learn in the great state of Iowa.
What do you hope to gain from this internship?
I hope I can learn to make graphics better and learn the ins and outs of advertising. From the few hours I’ve spent at the office, I already thoroughly enjoy the work environment and can’t wait to work with my awesome co-workers!
Please join us in welcoming Audra to the IRIS team! If you have stories or ideas for the IRIS blog, feel free to contact Audra at firstname.lastname@example.org.
